Unpuzzled Robotics
Inspiring and empowering the next generation of engineers through hands-on learning and real-time teamwork
Our Services
We offer in-person robotics classes anywhere in the DMV area for children ages 4-12. We're not for profit, so feel free to reach out to book us for our 3, 4, or 5 week courses. We teach class sizes of 10 to 30. Students work in smaller teams of 3-5 on designing, building, and testing robots.
Courses include material on
Robot Design
With VEX IQ lego parts
Our course works with 10"x10" robots which students build, experiment with, test, and re-build. Through this experience, we highlight the importance of building robust solutions to any given challenge.
Programming
Introductory and advanced block coding and python
Not only do students build robots to solve the given challenge for the day, but students also learn how to program their robots to complete tasks autonomously. No prior coding knowledge is required; we begin by teaching simple block coding and later move onto more advanced techniques.
Journaling
Engineering notebook entries
We always emphasize that great engineering solutions start with a good plan. Students always begin class by journaling and brainstorming possible robot ideas with their teammates. This gives students a good opportunity to communicate with their teammates at the beginning of each class.
Gameplay
Custom robot challenges
Each class is designed around a custom robotics game that the students need to adapt their robots too. At the end of each class, we see how the robots hold up when put to the test!
Our
Story
We started Unpuzzled Robotics with a simple goal: share our love of robotics with younger students in the DMV. This core goal of ours has now grown into a non-profit organization that specializes in introducing elementary and middle school students to robotics and engineering as a whole.
How it started
One day, we just asked the question, "why don't we grab some supplies from school, and just see if we could find an after-school program that would benefit from robotics classes." That initial curiosity led us to partner with our local Arlington Housing Corporation location. One class at a time, we found that our students loved learning about robotics, something that they weren't otherwise exposed to. Ultimately, from a simple idea grew a program that brings joy to everyone involved.
How it's going
Unpuzzled Robotics now serves over 150 students at numerous after school and summer programs across the DMV. We have perfected out course to introduce students to robotics and engineering through hands-on problem solving and team--work. Out classes aren't structured like a traditional class. Instead, we run them like the robotics practices we have on our own robotics teams, which emphasizes the engineering process and the importance of communication. Please reach out if you have any questions!
